4 Useful Tips For When You Go To A Concert Abroad

Music unites people, countries, universes. And sometimes the love for an artist can go beyond national frontiers. Going to a concert abroad is something almost every music lover wishes to experience. Not only you can see your favourite artist and enjoy their concert, you also get to go on a good trip out of state! Here are our tips to help you plan the best experience!

1. Choose the date of your concert abroad

Artists always release tour dates a lot in advance. This way you’ll have all the time to choose which is best for you. Remember to make your choice according to the available trips from your city. Also decide whether to go there only for a day or two or to stay longer instead. If the concert is during a time when you’re free from school or work, why not take the chance of a little vacation too? On the contrary, if you’re super busy and only can afford to stay a way for one night, worry not! There are plenty of convenient flight offers. Fly to your concert abroad in the morning and then quickly return home the morning after. Very intense, but worth it!

Also remember that it’s always best to secure your tickets when they go on presale. You wouldn’t want to plan your travel and then find out the concert is sold out before you could grab your entrance!

2. Plan your travel in advance

2.1 The trip

Once you’ve secured your concert tickets, you’ll know it’s time to plan your trip. Flights are the quickest way to get there, and sometimes also the cheapest. But if your destination country is close to yours and you want to go for a greener option, then you could choose to go by bus or by train. In this case, the best way to save time is to choose to travel during the night. This will allow you to get there earlier and have more time during the day. Moreover, nighttime trips often have lower fares.

2.2 Accommodation

Moving on, you’ll also need to find an accommodation. If you have friends or family where you can stay at, of course, you won’t need to think about that! Instead, if you need a place stay we recommend you to find an hostel. Not only you can save money, but also meet other people, who maybe are even going to the same concert as you! It’s also very convenient if you’re travelling with other friends. Another option in this case could be an Airbnb – sharing one is always a good choice.

However, the most important thing is to try to find a place which is as closer as possible to the concert’s venue. This way you won’t have to waste too much money and time on transport. Moreover, it will be easier to go back there for the night after the show. Moreover, if you’re going to queue outside the venue, it will be very convenient. You could go there to leave extra stuff or freshen up a bit without being away for too long.

3. Bring an adequate travel equipment

3.1 Luggage and clothing

When you go to a concert abroad, you need to be even more prepared to face any inconvenience. Your backpack will become your best friend. It’s the best choice for a quick trip as well as to bring around with you during a longer one. Although some venues won’t allow bigger backpacks in, so you should plan to bring a smaller bag for the event. If you’re with friends, you could also share one suitcase so that you can travel more easily with less luggage. Do not bring too many clothes, but make sure to have lighter and more comfortable ones for the concert. If the venue is an arena or a club, the temperatures will probably be higher inside, especially if you are in the parterre area. This of course also applies to open-air concerts, which are more likely to be held during summer in open areas or stadiums.

3.2 During the queue

Besides the standard travel equipment – clothes, comfortable shoes, medicines, body products etc. – you may need something more specific for the concert. If you’re going to queue for long, you should be well equipped for that. If it’s cold, you could bring thermal blankets to keep you warm while you wait. Moreover, you may never know if it’s going to rain, before and during the concert if it’s outdoors. An umbrella may do the job while queuing, but when it comes to the concert itself the best option is to bring a rain coat. It will keep you dry, and won’t block the view of the people around you.

3.3 During the concert

During the concert you may also need to recharge your phone. Powerbanks are always lifesaving, but keep in mind that some venues won’t let you bring in some of the bigger ones. Try to bring a couple smaller ones for emergencies, and get informed about the venue’s general rules in advance. Anyway, try to save as much phone battery as you can to make sure you never completely run out of it just in case of need.

3.4 More

Finally, your event could be an open-air concert or festival or maybe you’re a crazy fan and intend to queue all the night before outside an arena or a stadium. In this case, bring a tent! Camping for a concert abroad indeed is an amazing experience, but you ought to be prepared. Grab a strong, but yet small tent and also a sleeping bag. You can easily leave all this stuff back at your hostel before the event starts, or leave some of it at the wardrobe service if the venue provides it. Don’t forget to always be respectful while camping and queuing, and to always follow the rules and what the authorities say in order not to get into any trouble.

4. Make a plan of what to do there

Lastly, make a good plan for your trip in advance. Decide if you want to do a big tour of the city, or maybe just stick to a couple main attractions. And if it’s just a 24-hour getaway, stick to the area of the venue and maybe just queue outside and spend your time with the other people there. Also plan the transport from the airport or the station to your destination and the other way around. Taxi, bus or train?

Another important advice: if your return flight or train is very early in the morning, you could avoid booking an accommodation for the night after the show. Alone or with friends, if you feel a bit adventurous you could just go and spend the night at the airport or the station! In any case, staying at a hostel for just 3 or 4 hours would be a waste of time and money. If your flight is later though, we totally advise you to take some rest after the event before you leave.

That all been said, we wish you a great experience for your concert abroad. Hop onto that plane or train and get ready to sing and dance to your favourite music!
